Listening to Dylan Thomas reading his own work, the first thing that strikes me is how well he does it. Usually poets reading their own stuff makes me cringe. I would have asked him for a little more range vocally, but his enunciation is lovely, and his love of the words shines. And the words themselves are remarkable. I am not as familiar with his work as I feel I ought to be (especially as I lived just a block down the avenue from the White Horse for 17 years), so this is a treat and a lesson for me.
